Boom, Whack, Boom, Whack...

Red, Orange and Yellow Room students will get to recorder once they reach Green Room, but until then they are in the process of other music making and learning.

Red Room is doing a small unit on musical Form, or the order of patterns, rhythms and melody. We danced our way through the "Hokie Pokie" to discover lots of A-B-A-B patterns make up the song. Now we are learning other songs through singing to find their form! We have also become more hands-on with instruments, learning to playing tambourines, maracas, drums, triangles and shakers.

Orange and Yellow Room students are building on their note reading and Boomwhacker skills in a few ways. Orange Room reviewed "Twinkle Twinkle" in singing, boomwhack-ing AND added percussion instruments to create our first "Boomwhacker Orchestra"- and they did GREAT! Yellow Room has been working to sing and use Boomwhackers with some more independence and complexity as we work to use the entire C scale and faster rhythm patterns.
