Turquoise Room & Blue Room

Below you will find separate updates for Turquoise Room and Blue Room students. While these classes learn about similar topics, they build on what they have learned from the previous year.

Turquoise Room, Week of October 18th

For the past two weeks, students have been discovering other types of musical forms to help shape their own creative processes. Our current focus is on Rondo form, where the first pattern ("A") repeats over and over... and over!

Students are working to use their latest rhythmic and melodic ideas to now create their own Rondo composition. They are excited to share them next week! This also means they will be able to share them with you through an email link, so be on the lookout!

Turquoise students continue to demonstrate good music listening skills as we identify rhythms in patterns.

Blue Room, Week of October 18th

Students have been working hard to revise their musical form compositions. We looked at some funny video examples of musical form to help get a better idea of how patterns work.

Currently, Blue roomers are writing in an A-B-B-A form. We use our time in class to discuss and critique what we hear in each composition as a way to build comfort using music vocabulary.

Students have started a "Topic of the Week" with me, where they have been able to submit a song, artist, or musical idea they want to learn more about. So far, we have heard the Mandalorian Theme, the "Shreksaphone", and The White Stripes. Quite a range!
