B... A... G.... Bag? No, Recorder!

Students in the Green, Turquoise and Blue Room have officially started recorder unit for the spring! Before I get into details I want to share a reminder:

Recorders and recorder packets should be in student backpacks when not in use at home or at school. This will help ensure everyone is prepared for class! Which brings me to a second key reminder and that is practice expectations. I mentioned to students in class that this isn't busywork, but a means to help remember what we learned between classes. Here are my expectations:

1) Students practice 10 minutes for each practice session. Include breathing, finger practice, counting rhythms and of course, playing songs.

2) Have 3 separate practice sessions (different days) during the week. This helps spread it out for what works best with your schedule.

3) Students will have a specific assignment but also some free choice. I believe it is important for students to play music they like while also discovering something new on their own. Each week students will be given an assignment and recorder in their planner.
